Jett Brandon is back in New York after he learned the truth about his girlfriend Emerald, back to work and his one night stands, no more relationships for him. Angelica Chandler never thought she would end up having to help a bad guy in order to keep her brother safe, but here she is on an elevator headed to a Mr. Brandon's penthouse. When Jett steps on the elevator to take him to his penthouse the last thing he expected was the beautiful woman also there, and as a man used to taking what he wants he tells her they are going out Thursday. The following is a whirlwind for both of them, but when the truth comes out Angelica knows she will lose the one man she never knew she was waiting for. What could have spelled the end for the couple made them both realize just what they had and what they are not willing to give up. I loved Jett and Angelica's story! Amelia Wilde does it again with drawing me in and rooting for the couple to work out their issues.

I am never disappointed with a new Jo Raven book and this one is no different. For Candy what starts as a fantasy turns into reality when she meets the objects of her blog, Joel and Jethro. The two guys are best friends and roommates and while Jethro has deeper feelings for Joel, Joel hasn't really thought about his friend like that. Yet with Candy between the two the feelings the guys feel for each other as well as for her come bubbling to the surface. The balance between the three is truly amazing, they all have something to offer for the others and complete each other in ways none of them imagined. Yet what happens when fantasy becomes reality and you find that the reality is different than you would have pictured? Different yet so much deeper and meaningful than the fantasy could ever be. The followers of her blog Candy Boys want more when she stops writing her serial blog, and one person(someone she considered a friend) will violate all of them without her realizing what is happening. None of the characters in the book are perfect, that's what makes them so loveable and relatable, yet none of them give up when, even when they want to, the goings get tough. They may run away or lock their emotions in at times, but the others do know how to overcome the issues at hand. Joel struggles with his feelings for Jethro, his family wasn't the most open-minded. Jethro, Jet, struggles with his fear of people leaving him alone, his upbringing would do that to a person. And Candy she struggles with the blog and how to tell the boys without them leaving her. Through it all Jo Raven has the ability to make you root for the characters in her book and rejoice with them when things work out for them.
Jethro and Joel are the perfect balance of men for Candy that who wouldn't want to find the kind of love and acceptance they have for each other. Connected by who their friends are, Chase and Elle have an immediate attraction, but in many ways couldn't be any different from the other. Chase is dark, broody and a loner, with the exception of his friends Gray and Declan. Where Elle comes off as free spirited, fun loving and care free, yet that is just what she wants others to see and deep down she is more like Chase than meets the eye. Both are haunted by their past and neither like to give up control. When they come together in an explosion of sparks both try to deny the true depth of their feelings, knows he can't stay away from Elle, even if he thinks he's no good for her, and when her safety is threatened takes her home with him. Elle tries to shield her heart from Chase, but the more time she spends with him the less she can deny her true feelings and neither can Chase. What should have been their happy ending ends up with Elle pushing Chase away, when Chase keeps her in the dark about her friend, and attempting to get on with her life. In the end when Elle is being threatened there is nothing Chase won't do to protect the woman he has claimed as his own. This book is hot, funny, sweet, action packed and had me hooked from the first page.
Chase is the definition of Alpha male, but with Elle he shows a softer side, one that wants to make her smile, hold her close and keep her safe. There is just something about that you gotta love. This was my favorite in the Bertoli Crime Family series. Dante Degrassi has become used to the members of the Bertoli organization not trusting him, but keeps doing what he must and biding his time. A chance meeting at a birthday celebration has Dante coming to the rescue of Carmen, an honorary member of the Bertoli family, when she is harassed by Luisa's brother. Their path to their happy ending has Dante earning a shot with Tomasso and Luisa in their crew, a chance for Carmen to get publicity for her dance studio(that has nothing to do with her past as a stripper) with the help of Dante as her partner and the other half they both had been missing. There are misunderstandings between the two due to neither knowing the other's backstory, but through it all the pull to each other. I loved the latest from Lauren Landish.
Dante is truly awesome because once he starts something, whatever it is, he will follow through no matter what. When he learns Carmen's history he doesn't even bat an eye, which is what Carmen had been waiting for. What a great read from Kerrigan Grant! Ramona and Benji are such polar opposites, but couldn't be any more perfect for each other. Benji is a hotshot soccer stud with the world at his feet, graduating Clemson, getting drafted to the LA Universe, and on his way to living in LA. One night out with his friend and brother he meets Ramona after he spills a drink on her. Ramona is the quiet, homebody, artist who is awkward in social situations, but finds herself comfortable around Benji and he makes her laugh. One night, that ends not the way either of them thought, is all they think they have, until a chance run-in at the café Ramona works at. With them both in LA they begin a friendship that leads to more than either of them thought they would find. Ramona is perfect for Benji because when push comes to shove she wants what is best for him, even if it breaks her heart. In turn Benji is perfect for Ramona because he wont give her up without a plan, that leaves her floored. I can't say enough how much I enjoyed this book.
Benji makes an awesome book boyfriend because even though he starts of full of himself, when he realizes how he feels about Ramona the plan he hatches to make both of them happy is the stuff of dreams. What starts as a normal day for Veronica with a workout at the gym and her job as a bike messenger takes an abnormal twist when she goes to Elite Models for her last stop and ends up in a ship bound for a different planet with Mikel Taso, the alpha of his clan and bear shifter. Taso went along on this mission to find females for his clan because he wants a female to be by his side. A rocky start leads both of them finding more happiness than either thought possible. But things are rocky with two people who have gotten through life by fighting in some way, shape or form and they are bound to butt heads at some point. Until they both learn what compromise means. Great read from Catherine Vale! We met Deacon in his friend's story, Heart of the Hunter. Not Deacon finds himself in Miami and living his life the way he always has with drinking, women and the freedom to do what he wants. When he heads to work at the night club he runs into Savannah and by the end of the night his life has changed forever. Savannah ran to Miami to escape her father and ending up in loveless union just like her mother. After listening to her mother's stories about her time in Miami she knows that's where she wants to be, but after a while she wonders if that is where she is meant to be. One night out with her friend and roommate Olivia puts her on a collision course for her future when she meets the mysterious Deacon, her own beast just like her mom had found during her time in Miami. But unlike her mom she isn't willing to walk away from hers, even when he walks away from her at first. I love that others from Chance's previous books make an appearance in this one including Hunter. Also in here we get more of a feel of one of the Brotherhood, Grady and the pain he is in that causes him to flee his family and wind up in Miami, when Deacon and Savannah need him. I can't wait to see Grady get his happy ending!
I loved Deacon, he is brash, comes off rough around the edges and yet when he meets Savannah he knows that his life wouldn't be the same without her in it. All Nick has known for so long is how to follow through on a contract and move on, making sure to remember the hit's name in case someone comes for retribution. All that changes though when he gets the information on his next hit, Cassandra Gonzales the daughter of the cartel man he just took out. The more time he watches Cassandra, the more he realizes he can't end her life and instead ends up saving her life. Cassandra thought, upon hearing the news of her father's death, that maybe now she could stop running and then she meets Nick and ends up running with him. One moment of passion leaves her with a reminder of her short time with Nick and makes that last for the next 8 years. When Cassandra and her son, Ramon, are in danger Nick will stop at nothing to keep them safe, even if it means he may not make it through it. Finding out you have an 8 year old son may be a tough pill to swallow, but Nick does it with amazing ease and realizes he doesn't want to go on any longer without his family safe and by his side. Good read from Ashley Rhondes. Karl and Slate are the next up in the Clawed Squad to find their mate. Karl and Slate have always known that with twin shifters the mating is a triad, where the brothers will share one mate, Karl has always been on board but Slate is determined to have his own mate. When Layla comes into their lives it is with a flourish. Layla has had the worst day ever, her boyfriend broke up with her so she gets in her car and drives, winds up in Colwood, Montana and stuck on the side of a cliff after attempting to overcome her fear. When the twins go for their cliff jump they didn't know they were going to meet their mate and after realizing they both want her they begin to fight for her attention. Layla is the one to bring them together not only as their mate, but as the woman who helps them with their portion of the ranch business, new business ideas. I have loved the twins in the previous books and am so glad they find their one to complete them. Kim Fox did an awesome job with these three and their story.
Karl and Slate are just awesome because in every book they have made me laugh, but at the heart of them they are great men/shifter. Slate has a deepness to him you wouldn't imagine, and he shows it when he tells Karl the reason he is scared to share a mate and it honestly broke my heart. Karl is the perfect balance to Slate in that he will always be there for his brother and reassures him when he shares his deepest secret. And let's be honest who wouldn't want some guys like them? |
